We
have been informed about the distruction of
the two World Trade Center towers and the
bombing of the Pentagon. It's amazing! We don't
have a lot of informations. Please keep us
informed through the Forum! For now, the Car@van
continues the mission. We
all had a very bad night; some because of the
fleas in the bed, others because of the
hyenas, some because they just couldn't sleep.
And maybe because yesterday was the last day
of 1993. Today, we're in 1994... There
is no school today, it's bank holiday. We let
anyone in our house. We give first aid to some
children. Many of them don't wear shoes and
walk bare foot. When they hurt themselves, the
wounds get easily infected. Greg, our doc,
cures them, and give them some medicine. The
number of 'patients' increases very quickly.
But in fact, we understand that most of them
just need some attention. The
soccer tournament is going on. Today, the
Monkeys bate the Tigers 4 to 1, and the Zebras
bate the Lions 4 to 3. To
celebrate New Year's Eve, we had dinner with
Brother Zenebe. He lives in a beautiful house,
made of concrete. His splendid housemaid's
name is Mabite (that makes the French laugh...
understands who can). Tonight, we eat an
Injera... by the way we haven't spoken about
this yet ! Injera
si the national dish, made with millet
farina (called Tef), or barley. It looks like
a big spongious girdlecake. With your right
hand, you take a piece of it, with fish, meat,
or salad and you put some 'Wat' on it, a spicy
sauce. It's a very dense meal, full of
proteins and carbohydrics. Moreover, Injera is
only made in Ethiopia. After
dinner, Theo shows a one hour tape about Nomad
Community around the Interactive Round the
World Tour. Brother Zenebe says, with a lot of
fun : "I go with you, I leave the
Congregation, I become a New Nomad !". Finally,
we go home, quite tired, and full ! Click
