It should have been an exceptional day of travel... it was a long, long waiting.

Once our backpacks done and our shoes - which soles are worn - laced up, we go to the Trelew Airport, with a lot of excitation. We realize today the choice of the Virtual People (Voting Form n°12): send the Car@van to Ushuaia !

A physical sensation is still accompanying us: the encounter between the western wind, that comes from Andes, and the southern one, coming from Antarctica. A wind that 'scores' as say those here who want to explain its power.

The Trelew Airport is a white building lost in the middle of nowhere, and is about 1000 m2. Inside, there are a few people, whom a group of travelers sat on huge suitcases. They just look like waiting and that's all. There is no doubt about their faces: they all go very far.

The little bookshop obtained only three copies of today's newspaper: who knows who'll get one ! On a wall, there is a plaque in the honor of Antoine de Saint Exupéry (the author of 'Le Petit Prince'). Trelew was once a stopover of the famous French Aéropostale. 'Saint Ex' was the first one to fly over the Valdes Peninsula.

A loud voice says to the microphone: "The flight LAPA MJ 3470 to Ushuaia has not left from Buenos Aires yet."

It's 1.25 pm and we had to take off at 2.00 pm !

The 'Tierra del Fuego' has to be merited and we, in this airport, feel a bit like in the Purgatory...

2.30 pm: Announcement of the delay of flight 3470 to Ushuaia.

We decide to sit in the bar and drink something while waiting. The place has a design between 'art deco' and the soviet austerity. The pink chairs seem to be chosen to match with the blue tables and the waiters white jackets. It's now usual: whenever the Car@van arrives somewhere, it draws attention to itself. We play games on the computer, or sing with a guitar, we try the wigs to remember Priscilla, we interview people... one attraction per minute, minimum !

3.17 pm: second announcement of the delay of flight 3470 to Ushuaia.

Maya sets the tripod and let the camera film. Vale sews her bag, Marco and Aleko play a game of tank battle, Maya tries stretching, Theo makes some magic tricks for kids... and time goes on.

5.58 pm: Third announcement of the delay of flight 3470 to Ushuaia.

Some people in the room show some interest about our high tech equipment. We let some of them surf on the net and explain the nomad philosophy.

Maya and Theo go for a walk in the Pampa, come back kissing each other then fake to have an argue... hahem...

7.31 pm: Fourth announcement of the delay of flight 3470 to Ushuaia.

The plane has left Buenos Aires but no one knows when it arrives.

We're blocked in a transit area to the End of the World. The Team organizes itself and begin to edit the Journal you are know reading.

In the minibus that takes us to the Trelew airport, the driver looks far... beyond the road.

Long and curly hair, big tattooed hands handling the little steering wheel with strength.

We try to talk to him.

He won't say a lot but an enigmatic: "Here there were ufos ! We're on one of the magnetic lines of the planet".

Some of the authors who came around here.

There were many stories about Patagonia, from the last 'Gentlemen of fortune', as Hugo Pratt used to call them, nomad himself, images hunter of this world at the end of the world.

In the new Patagonian mythology, stories of Saint Exupéry and Paul Théroux intercross; but also Hermann Melville, who sailed across the Cape Horn in 1843; Francisco Coloane who wrote about his life of pastor, hunter, fisherman.

Until the books of Luis Sepulveda and Bruce Chatwin which follow us during our trip.

Today, this section is the most difficult to write !

The sun is already down, we've been here for 7 hours. We're still in the airport... and no one knows when we'll go.

Dear Virtual Traveler, we wish you a good week-end, hoping the Journal of the 4th of March will be sent from Ushuaia.

But please decide now on our future, if you haven't done it already. Remember we're on chat Sunday at 22.00 pm GMT.
